Marketing Director - British Gas
Having worked both agency and client side across her career, Miriam has never lost her restless energy for creating connections between brands and the people who choose them. She is a passionate believer in behavioural economics and the power of the nudge to drive change, helping brands stay constantly relevant in an ever-changing landscape.
During her busy career, Miriam has been responsible for brands such as Pretty Polly for Sara Lee Personal Products, and has run big name accounts for Saatchi & Saatchi, Grey, Young & Rubicam and Bates UK respectively, as well as becoming Managing Partner at Publicis Focus, specialising in luxury and premium brands.
As Head of Marketing at British Gas, Miriam has responsibility for creating communications that result in deeper customer engagement.
She is a Non Executive Director of several female social entrepreneurial businesses including WhoMadeYourPants.com and Gaiavita and has advised start-up companies like Roots&Wings and GoCityGirl in the UK and MyShape.com in California.
Miriam is proud to be a member of the ISBA ExCom and has recently been voted an ‘Internationalist of the Year’, an accolade given to only a small group of people recognised for driving marketing excellence globally. In her spare time, she loves travelling, especially to France, as she is a fluent French speaker and loves the French way of life. She is sporadically working on a novel!
“The business of creativity”
Miriam has spent over 20 years schizophrenically jumping between client and agency sides. She plans to share her thoughts, hopefully some of them challenging, around how to stay creatively brave in a world gone safe, whichever side you’re on.
It’s likely she’ll touch on nudging rather than shouting, who loses their nerve first, and a penguin called Wilbur.
